In the last section we talked about how you should be familiar with what is inside of your classroom and in your school. Making sure that your classroom is well organized is very important on a daily basis. As a teacher you should make sure to have an area where you can easily grab anything you need from pencils to scissors and glue. Making sure everything is easily on hand is an important way to make sure your lessons do not become hectic and that you do not lose control over your classroom. In addition, it is important that you know what to do with your student’s completed work. Most commonly students have their own box or cubby for putting in their own belongings where they may store their bags as well as their finished or completed work. It is important to know the school’s policy on completed work so you can properly send it home or throw it away if necessary. Making sure that you do not have piles of art projects or papers from students is very important to make sure your classroom does not become too cluttered. In addition, with classes that do art or projects instead of worrying about sending them home or throwing them away, you can hang them up or put them on the wall to display the students work and to fill out the classroom more. Giving your students a space where they can see their accomplishments can help them feel more comfortable and also make your classroom look well decorated. It is just important to not let things become too cluttered and to make sure everything in your classroom is not a hassle to move around. Having things such as the alphabet, colors, shapes, and numbers can be helpful for classrooms with younger students so they can look at them for a reference at times. When you are organizing your classroom, it is important to remember the level and age of your students as well as fitting something to your own tastes and style as a teacher.
