Chapter 13: Inside the Classroom

Chapter 13.jpg

As a teacher your first goal when you arrive at a school should be familiarizing yourself with your classroom and your surroundings. What is available at your school? Do you have access to a printer? Where are pencils kept? Where are the pencil sharpeners? Where are erasers kept? Where are the colored pencils, markers, or crayons? Where does the school keep arts and crafts materials such as scissors or glue? All of these things will be important for you to know exactly where they are and what you can use during each one of your lessons. Looking for these things during class or at the last second can take up valuable time, so finding out where everything is as soon as possible should be a priority. Rules for inside the classroom vary from school to school, but you should set up your classroom in a way that is both most comfortable to you and appropriate according to your school's or supervisor’s rules. Make sure that your classroom has all necessary materials that you will need on a daily basis in a way that you can easily reach and use them.
