Helpful Websites and Materials

We would like to take this section and below to give some example lesson plans as well as helpful sites that you can use as a teacher. These sites offer things from worksheets to other materials that can be very helpful to you while teaching English abroad. We here at TEFL Abroad have not been paid by any of these websites and they have been invaluable websites to many teachers around the world. Understand that teaching sometimes is not about reinventing the wheel, and going from what others have made and tested can often be the best strategy.

Kahoot.com - Can be used for making lessons and turning them into quiz games. Very fun, but students should have a smartphone (older learners).

Education.com - Many lesson plans and worksheets, but requires a premium membership for some downloads and has a daily download limit.

K12reader.com - AMAZING site, has awesome materials for sight words, and also has great worksheets for phonics, has a lot of materials for many other things as well! Doesn’t require any memberships either!

Sightwords.com - Absolutely amazing for phonics and reading for students, also has a lot of games available that have templates, you can use the templates for anything, even outside of just reading phonics or sight words!

Englishgrammar.org - Has all the information you could ever need on grammar and can help you easily set up your teaching lessons.

Teacherspayteachers.com - Materials are all made and used by other teachers, and ratings can be seen. Usually requires one-time payments to access some downloads.

En.islcollective.com - Materials are all made and used by other teachers, you can search for almost anything and find results for lessons!

Busyteacher.org - Has a lot of ready-made lesson plans and a ton of great materials for teaching.

Wyzant.com/resources/lessons/english/esl - Has some great resources for grammar and good examples for classes and explained very simply.

Easyteacherworksheets.com - Has worksheets for almost anything in teaching! Useful for all kinds of levels and learners.

There are many more websites out there with teaching materials; however, these are the ones that we have gotten the most use out of during our time as teachers. Without these websites our everyday lives would have been much harder. So, use as many resources as you can to create fun and educational lessons!
